Find what makes you happy in life, work hard at it, have integrity and success will find you.
Art has always been a part of my life. As a child I was always doodling on pieces of paper, or whatever else I could get my hands on to create a scene. Whether it be a pen and pad provided by my mom to keep me preoccupied in church, or drawing on my school notebooks, I was always drawing.
Without exception animals play a role in my art.
Even while painting landscapes, I can visualize some creature in the mix, and have difficulty resisting adding one. The first time I realized I wanted to be a wildlife artist was on a trip to Maui in Junior High School. We went into a Wyland gallery in Lahaina, and I was mesmerized. I couldn't believe someone could do this for a living. While I live in Colorado and love painting mountain wildlife, and pheasant hunting scenes, my first love is painting marine life.
My art has not come the easy way. I did not take any art classes in High School and have no formal fine art training. I did take a year of production art, but there was little to no fine art training. It is amazing what you can learn from watching Bob Ross and then progress to Jerry Yarnell on Public TV stations. If you love something and are willing to work hard and practice at it, good things will happen.

I use many different mediums, such as graphite, acrylics, colored pencils and oils. I like the ease of acrylics and prefer using Golden and some Liquitex.
I love spending time with my family and enjoy being in the outdoors; fly fishing, riding my RZR, and pheasant hunting where I always find creative inspiration.
